Davis Medical Center Earns Gold Status for Cardio-Pulmonary Quality Measure

Elkins, W.Va. -- For the fourth consecutive year, Davis Medical Center (DMC) has earned the highest distinction from the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines program. The Gold Resuscitation Quality Achievement Award recognizes that DMC has demonstrated at least 85 percent compliance in the cardio-pulmonary arrest resuscitation quality measures for a period of 12 months.

Davis Medical Center’s (DMC) Cardiovascular Lab earned validation as a leader in vascular testing with accreditation for outstanding quality in the areas of Extracranial Cerebrovascular Testing, Peripheral Venous Testing, and Peripheral Arterial Testing. The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) granted them a three-year term of accreditation.

Davis Medical Center Diabetes Program Earns Continued ADA Recognition

The Davis Medical Center Lifeskills program has been recognized for meeting national standards for diabetes self-management education by the American Diabetes Association for the period of Feb. 1, 2018 to Feb. 1, 2022. The Lifeskills program is intended for qualified patients with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and is a flexible learning experience aimed at helping patients deal with the “real-world” environment and life circumstances that exist for each person. The program is led by qualified professionals including a Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitians, Physical Therapists, Pharmacists and Registered Nurses.

ELKINS, WV - Two members of the Davis Health System team were recognized for completing the Advanced Training Program in Health Care Delivery Improvement through Intermountain Healthcare. Carl Nichols, MBA, FACHE, Vice President of Professional Services for Davis Health System and Catherine M. Chua, DO, FAAFP, FMNM, Davis Health System physician and Chief Medical Officer completed the Intermountain Healthcare’s Advanced Training Program which is designed to give participants the understanding and tools necessary to conduct state-of-the-art clinical practice improvement projects, use quality improvement methods to manage and integrate non-clinical processes, implement quality improvement programs and conduct internal quality improvement training. Chua said there were many factors prompting her to complete this training.

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield West Virginia recently recognized Davis Medical Center Family Birthing Center with a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care designation as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.
