New Director Appointed to Laurel Place

May 09, 2022

Elkins, WV – Laurel Place, Davis Medical Center's (DMC) inpatient geriatric behavioral health program, announced the appointment of Mary McCartney MSN, RN as Program Director. She brings over 30 years of experience in acute care, outpatient addiction treatment, hospice care, and management to her new role with the unit.

In addition to her professional experience, McCartney has personal experience with family care that fuels her dedication to meet the challenges of providing adequate behavioral health services in a rural community: “Families and facilities need resources to help them care for our geriatric population, especially those with unique psychiatric issues. As the adult child of an aging parent, I know the uncertainty of what their healthcare, both mentally and physically, might be in the future. I want to know that there are quality options for them to get the care they need. The rural landscape of West Virginia makes it beautiful, but the geographical challenges have caused some of our population to be underserved. I am very blessed to get to help and serve my friends and neighbors right here in West Virginia."

Laurel Place is designed to treat and improve the lives of people ages 55 and older who are suffering from depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, social withdrawal, interpersonal conflicts and a wide range of other psychiatric conditions. The unit is accredited by The Joint Commission. For more information, call 304.630.3508 or visit the website laurelplace.org.
