Philippi, WV – The Broaddus Hospital (BH) Board of Directors has announced Dana Gould, MHA, RHIA, CHC, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Broaddus Hospital.

Gould will replace Jeff Powelson as CEO who announced his retirement earlier this year.

"Broaddus Hospital has a bright future in keeping our local communities healthy, and I’m delighted to lead the team,” said Gould.

Gould is a 17-year veteran of Davis Health System (DHS).  She joined the system as the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer in 2000.  She moved into the COO position at Broaddus in early 2016.

“Dana was born and raised in Barbour County and has family here.  I think that says a lot about her commitment to the community and the people who live and work here,” said DHS President and CEO Vance Jackson.  “This is an exciting time for new leadership at the hospital and I encourage the community to join us welcoming her in this new capacity.”

She received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Record Administration and her Master of Science in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University – Medical College of Virginia.

In her role as COO, Gould has had direct responsibility for the operations of the inpatient/swing bed, emergency department, pharmacy, health information, dietary and behavioral health programs at Broaddus.  She also brings extensive knowledge of hospital compliance, including HIPAA privacy regulations.

She currently serves on the Barbour Community Health Association Board of Directors, and is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association and the American Health Information Management Association.

Dana is married to Richard Gould and has two sons, Matthew and Joey.

“We’re pleased with the Board’s decision,” said Jackson.  “Securing a highly qualified new CEO is important in advancing healthcare for the local community. We recognize the many achievements Mr. Powelson has contributed during his tenure as CEO, and sincerely thank him for all he has done.”
