CHUA RECEIVES OUTSTANDING PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP AWARD FOR 2017

Davis Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Catherine M. Chua, DO, received the Outstanding Physician Leadership Award for 2017 during the Caravan Health Accountability Care Symposium in Phoenix earlier this month.
PHOENIX – A Davis Health System physician and Chief Medical Officer has been recognized for her work with population health. Dr. Chua has been working to improve the health of residents by working to improve environmental health factors and access to care for the residents of rural West Virginia.
Catherine M. Chua, DO, FAAFP, FMNM, was selected as the winner of the Outstanding Physician Leadership award during the 2017 Caravan Health Accountable Care Symposium in early December. The Caravan Health ACO recognized health systems and leaders for their outstanding success in transcending quality of care with the 2017 Population Health Pioneer Awards. The group recognizing eight organizations and 12 individuals during the Symposium in Phoenix.
Dr. Chua was nominated for the award based on her achievements throughout the year. One notable nomination for her wrote, “Dr. Chua is an ACO Physician Champion at Davis Medical Center. She sets the standards for all our providers and strives to exceed those standards herself. She works to improve not only her own practice but to encourage the others to focus on population health so all of our patients obtain the care that they deserve.”
The nomination went on to say, “Dr. Chua is willing to try new practices and procedures to further the cause, is constantly learning more to bring back to our organization and continues to see her patients within her practice. She has also assisted in having our organization bring in a clinical social worker so we can take care of the patients as a whole, even on the behavioral health side. She is a natural leader and her willingness and commitment are just a few of the characteristics she possesses that allow our organization to strive for change and implement new things.”
Both the Davis Health System and Broaddus Hospital joined with Caravan Health ACO in late 2015 and have actively participated with the group each year since.
