Wound Care Center

Dr. Philip Chua

Dr. Chua has been providing wound care for many years. According to Dr. Chua, "diabetes, heart disease, obesity, smoking, and other issues compound the severity of wounds, so people with these conditions often benefit from wound care. Wound care is also beneficial for people who require follow-up care after a burn, stitches and other wounds resulting from accident or injury."

Davis Memorial Hospital is opening a Wound Care Center, which will be conveniently located at 903 Gorman Avenue on the hospital campus. The program uses the following various treatment techniques to significantly decrease healing time of wounds.

  • Whirlpool.
  • Removal of unhealthy tissue.
  • Electrical stimulation.
  • Ultrasound.
  • Compression and specialized dressings.

Dr. Philip Chua, family practitioner, is the medical director of the Wound Care Center, and will see patients on Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. by appointment.

The Wound Care Center will also provide assistance to patients in accessing dressing supplies, diabetic shoes, pressure-relieving footwear, assistive devices and other services related to wound management.

Typically, most private insurance companies, as well as Medicare and Medicaid, pay for wound care services with a physician referral.
